A view of the south elevation of the Church of the Myrelaion, built by Emperor Romanus I Lecapenus sometime before 922. The church was supported on its crypt, the top of which is seen here. The church was converted into a mosque in about 1500 by Grand Vizier Mesih Paşa and over time became known as Bodrum Camii, after the basement substructure.
Having been abandoned after fire in 1911, the structure was subjected to partial restoration in the 1960s.
It was finally restored and reopened as a mosque in 1986.
Access off Mesihpaşa Caddesi.
