Gerger Kalesi is the site of Arsameia on the Euphrates, established by  Arsames I of Commagene in the 3rd century BC.
Cut into the rock at the western corner of the site is a relief, some 4m high, of King Samos II Theosebes Dikaios ( r 130 - 109 BC ).
