The Spanish Steps, completed in 1726, link the Piazza di Spagna with the Church of Trinità dei Monti on the hill above. The main flight of steps is out of sight in this view, from the terrace in front of the church. The house on the left of the steps is where English poet John Keats died in 1821. Beyond the Piazza is Via dei Condotti, one of Rome's most fashionable shopping streets. The dome on the skyline belongs to the 17th century Church of Santi Ambrogio e Carlo al Corso.
