The main entrance to the Acropolis is via the Propylaea, a monumental gateway constructed between 437-432 BC.
The marble pedestal on the left, dating from 178 BC, is known as the Monument of Agrippa, having carried a statue dedicated in 27 BC to Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa.
On the right is the Temple of Athena Nike, constructed 427-424 BC. It was demolished in the 17th century, rebuilt in the 1830s with further restoration taking place in the 20th century.
View from the north-west.
